Homeschooling your High Schooler

The idea of homeschooling a high schooler can seem like a monumental task to parents, and sometimes creates a measure of anxiety and confusion.  Let us reassure you that it is achievable, and can actually be an incredible experience for you and your child

Families who homeschool thru EHRC and plan on graduating with an Edmonds School District Diploma, must work toward that end by earning highschool credits for their studies.
Edmonds School District has a list of required courses of study that must be completed in order to earn a Diploma.  For more on this, see Building a HS Credit.

Additionally, in the year 2000, the State Board of Education approved four new statewide graduation requirements to take effect with the graduating Class of 2008.
In addition to  earning High school credits all students must complete the following statewide requirements:

High School and Beyond Plan
Complete a Culminating Project.
Earn a Certificate of Academic Achievement  or Certificate of Individual Achievement.

When your student completes the first two years of highschool they can continue to earn HS credit by successfully completing a high school course through Running Start at one of our area Community Colleges.  This is a popular program for homeschoolers because they complete High School by taking college courses. These courses meet the High school credit requirements simultaneously while college credits are being earned.  There are no course fees.  You only pay for books and some small administrative and lab fees.
